Cultural information for:

Soil media: fine, dust free sand (flint or silica sand used for sandblasting). Mulch with shredded leaves, one half inch deep or seedling size fir bark.

Light conditions: full shade to high open shade.

Moisture requirements: keep soil damp at all times, but not soaking. Must be well drained.

Fertilizing: general all-purpose fertilizer at 10-25% strength recommended for pot plants. Apply every three or four weeks up to mid-July. Flush media with water before next application.

Planting: plant the rhizome with the roots curved downward. Tip of growth bud should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch below surface of soil media. Plant corn one inch below soil surface. In pot, use one with plenty of space - six inch or better.

Hardiness: hardy in beds, however should be mulched. In pot, four months of artificial cooling considered minimum. Artificial cooling can be readily achieved by placing pot in plastic bag and puting in the crisper of the refrigerator for the required time.
